Takin' a break...
Monday, November 06, 2006
I know, it's been almost a month since my last post. No, I haven't been too distracted (ok, maybe a little bit) or playing with my food, I've just been dreading writing this post for quite some time now. After much soul-searching and debating, I've decided to take a little break from blogging.
Astute readers will note that I haven't updated my weight loss journal for several months. Truth is that my weight has gotten way out of control and I've been a little embarrassed to admit it to the world. I've gained more than 20 pounds in the last year, and for the first time since I started Weight Watchers, I was flirting with quitting and just letting myself go.
The panic really set in when I hit 198 and change (up from 177 or so). I decided I needed to change a few things in my life and concentrate on my health and reaching my goal.
I just need to cool it a bit on blogging. I know that I probably should be doing this publicly, and I really want to as a service to you all. But the truth is that I've been getting progressively weaker and less motivated as time has gone on an I need to concentrate during the upcoming Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year season.
To fill the void, I recommend that you check out awesome Jeff's C for Cooking, crazy cool Dr. Biggles' Meathenge, or the always lovely Anne's Weight Watchers, eh?
Jeff's got the chops to keep you going, Biggles actually cooks chops regularly and Anne has the best damn hair I've ever seen on a blogger, period.
I may pop in from time to time, but expect me to come back rarin' to go around the new year...

No, I am not quitting - blogging or otherwise!

Thanks for the shout out. Looking forward to seeing you in the new year, but I really hope it will be before then. You know if you ever need xtra support, I'm there. You can do it, you've done it before :)

Good for you for recognizing that you need to take control of a situation, and then taking control of it! That having been said, I'll miss this blog.
And might I just say that Project PBR is the most amazing thing??? Boys are so funny... That was a most awesome prank...

We're sad you're taking a break but whatever you need to do to get back on track is fine. Best of luck to you this holiday season!

Thanks for the kind words of support. I imagine I'll probably still post a couple of times over the next few months, I just want to set the expectation that there won't be as many posts over the next few months.
If the issue was just a weight one, I wouldn't be slowing down. I've been struggling with my motivation and I want to get my mojo back.
The good news is that since I hit my "high", I've lost over 4 pounds.

Weight loss is a lifelong struggle for some of us. I wish you luck.

You have to admit what's going on before you can fix it, so good for you for being open about it.
Did you know that GT has personal trainers at really low prices? http://www.campusrecreation.gatech.edu/gf/personaltraining.php
We're looking at starting with one soon. I think you can use them if you're alumni, too. I know my best friend (another GT grad) gets a free semester at the center because they were supposed to have it completed before she graduated and they didn't.

Good luck!
I've battled with my weight my entire life...and I know what blogging can do to you. :) As fun as it is, it does get out of hand. I've experienced that too.

Good luck on keeping it cool during the whacky holiday season.
I hurt my knees in March (I normally run), and haven't been able to do *anything* aside from walk since then. It's been difficult to deal with, so I certainly wish you the best.
